Brasiliopuntia brasiliensis (A. Berger 1926) One of the most peculiar opuntioid species. Very popular in nurseries during the 1980s, it has curiously disappeared from commercial sale. Plants consist of one or several well-defined vertical cylindrical trunks and small, very thin paddle-shaped segments that gradually detach over time, remaining only on the upper part of the plant.
